Oh, I forgot a few things from the last message. I went out to feed Tru and
remembered all of the things that I didn't write!
I didn't get to see Rembrandt, ridden by Nicole Uphoff-Becker from Germany
either day. I left early on the first day, two rides before. I didn't
notice who was up or I would have stayed. Anyway, I figured I get to see
them at the freestyle. Seems that they qualified in 6th or 7th place, well
within the top 13, but withdrew from the competition. No reason was given.
Also the AQHA did a great demonstration during the break at the first
competition and after the Freestyles. They showed barrel racing, cutting
horse maneuvers, etc. But the best part was when they had Doc's Keepin'
Time, better known as Black Beauty, working at liberty doing stunts, AND
then they had Rugged Lark doing reining, dressage, jumping, tricks; first
with the bridle, then without. I loved it!! I really got a kick out of
watching the foreigners react to quarter horses. (Heck, it was fun just
to hear them SAY Quarter Horse!)
I'm suprised that the International Arabian Association didn't have anything
going. I'm sure native costumes would have gotten a great reception!
