Great! ... I was wondering if maybe I was misunderstanding the function
of the FIFO buffers.

WI does nothing over W0 and W2 shows the DCE speed but will not allow
any interaction with any comms programs I have tried.

I certainly think so :-) However, it is such a tremendous improvement
over the USR Sportster 14.4 and the Zoom 14.4 that I will gladly suffer
this minor glitch.
