I know you don't Bob, but my point was a policy of appeasement (or defense
vs. offense if you will) is not a good thing going forward -- something
that concerns me deeply as to our future and if not our demise, a
profoundly different landscape. I simply don't want us to do the
appeasement thing long enough to end up with the mind-set of "will I
die at the bus station today" as part of our everyday life.

The only way I see to avoid that is to stay on the offensive, an offensive
that we were woefully late in entering.
