I've had a few low ranking officers, mostly noncoms and other . One career
Marine ( Pre and WWII ), I never knew him needless to say . Two
Officers who served and retired from the Guard. Mostly just people that
answered the call .Growing up I always expected to serve but never did.
Timing was right but in a way I wish I had served.

I did have one cousin ( in law ) who rejoined in HIS late 50's .
He was enlisted in WWII ( was a guard at the Nuremberg trials ), got out
became a MD then a psychiatrist. Decided he was tired of Cheshire Conn. and
Joined the Navy . Great deal They moved him to San Diego where he served 4
years while his wife opened up a Psychology Practice. Great and SHARP guy.
wish I could have heard more of his stories

I've had the privilege of working with a decent number of retired non coms.
great people , just don't bull shit them. A Bar I frequented in my younger
( MUCH YOUNGER) college days had several retired Military .Definitely a
different mindset 

Do I recall correctly that you're parents were AF ?
