Hi Mike... I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with your assesment and comparison
of the Chief Scout's Award to the Life Scout rank in BSA.
The Chief Scout's Award is the highest award available to Canadian Scouts,as
such, it is comparable to the Eagle Scout rank in BSA. The requirements for
the award are numerous, and are meant to be as challenging (if not more
challenging) than the BSA Eagle Scout requirements. While Chief Scout's Award
recipients do not have to complete a project, the investigation of Canada's
involvment in World Scouting (writte/oral presentation) requires a comparable
amount of time. In addition, the badge requirements (pathfinder award, wORLD
cONSEVATION BADGE), as well as the community service work constitute
requirements which are far more rigorous than those of the BSA Life Scout
rank.
