Is this something that can happen with v34 and v34+ ? No, but it's still a modem problem. Yours is an internal USR Sportster, right? USR have acknowledged that a problem exists with V.42bis, and until such time as a replacement EPROM is made available, you'll have to disable BTLZ data compression to work around the problem. TP> EPROM date 11/22/95 Yep, that's one of the dodgy ones. TP> &A3 &B1 &C1 &D2 &G0 &H1 &I0 &K3 &M5 &N0 TP> &P1 &R2 &S0 &T5 &U0 &Y1 Change &K3 to &K0 and your lockups will disappear. TP> Fallback Disabled ***What exactly is it and how to TP> Protocol LAPM ***enable it????? That applies to HST only, and why USR included that in the non-HST Sportsters is beyond me. You can safely ignore it.
