Although it is generally considered bad practice in the case of a BBS to
have the modem answer the call rather than the software.  If the BBS should
crash for what ever reason, users will still have to pay for their call
while the BBS is down because the modem is answering the call.

In Glen's case, a replacement modem under warranty did the trick. :)
