And who says there would be?  It's certainly possible to set up the world
of sentient squids with or without dangerous land animals.  It's simply
wha= t I decide
to do.  Maybe the world of sentient squids is a world with no land masses, = just
water.  Maybe sentience developed as the squids found ways to avoid the
predators in the oceans.  On the other hand, perhaps they're the top
predat= ors.
Who knows?
