From: "Frank Haber"

The M1 Garand in 1934 was a dandy thousand-yard weapon. The gas-driven
action slowed the recoil and the clatter enough to let you get at least one
off in peace. For the second shot I'd take a bolt-action, perhaps.

And the Garand, tuned and tightened, was a winner in target competition. The
?Marine 1000-yd competiton was mostly with iron sights (!).

Its .30-06 military round would go through armor that would stop a .308
NATO, as well. Which brings up my question: what body armor will stop an
AK at point-blank?

o the shit they hand out to the troops? o anything a smart momma could buy?

...and (unpatriotic question) Will the back panel stop a .223?
