Hello Lynn,
LN> Not only that but some of this Java stuff is just plain
LN> bad and not thought
LN> out. I went to the Programmers Distribution Network Filegate Web site.
Actually, the place you went to is the main index page of ftbbs.com's Web
site.
LN> They have a Java applet that displays the time in about six countries
nd
LN> cities based on the time in Atlanta Ga USA. It took my
LN> 40meg Laptop to its
LN> Knees trying to update once a second.
Sorry to hear that, but you don't have to subject yourself to this (read on).
LN> That is absolutely the last time I
LN> visit their Web page. How dumb can you get, a Java high resolution real
LN> time clock applet in a frame no less, with no sleep delays, apparently
LN> programmed like a DOS app.
"They" also have a page for the IFDC FileGate collections which you can
access directly, and thereby skip the ftbbs.index screen:
http://www.ftbbs.com/filegate.htm - I mention this page in my announcements.
This page is where you should be logging in to the IFDC FileGate collections,
like the PDN.
By going to this page, you bypass the applet you find so offensive.
Take care,
Janis
