Edward is partly right. My own experience is with an 8088 XT, with 16550
uart, and a 14.4K external modem. The dte was at 57.6K locked. It worked
perfectly with zmodem dl's and with many pages worth of direct ascii
text. The dte however would lose characters near the end of long ascii
documents as the modem's buffer caused an overflow around a 65K point.
For all practical purposes this was insignificant even under desqview.
