| subject: | Bob`s question |
1237c49ea0d5 c_echo Hello Bill - >> Would you want a three page pamphlet that says "buy this >> book" as documentation for source code at your workplace? I >> don't want it and I doubt anyone would want it. BB> Good heavens, Charles! What has that to do with the price BB> of bread? I am not in the least concerned with Bob's BB> business practices. It's none of my business. It is between BB> him and his client. It was until Bob explained it in detail here which implies he is looking for input. Y/N? BB> All I said was that Amazon.co.uk lists it as a used book BB> for œ5.00. That is a simple statement of fact. I have not BB> read it and obviously I cannot offer any opinion as to its BB> merits. I do trust Bob's judgement on technical matters, BB> though. The author is also well qualified academically. That wasn't what I was saying. I was referring to what it _seemed_ to me, based on Bob's description, that Bob's employers were after - full documentation. >> I believe it's been confirmed several times that the book is >> not available here in the USA. BB> That is also moot. Bob does have his own copy, so it is BB> certainly available to him in the USA, and if he obtains BB> permission to reproduce it under licence (or royalty BB> arrangements) from the copyright holder as he is now trying BB> to do, general availability becomes irrelevant. That was what Bob asked for first. My reply was to his second suggestion that he could be a _source_ for people to purchase _the_book_. Not reproductions, reprints, or anything like that. BB> You seem to have lost a little of your customary BB> objectivity, old friend. Step back and relax! Worse things BB> happen at sea. :-) Sorry if I was a bit terse. I really did get a bit ticked at being asked to explain why I recommended that Bob update his 'source' and choose an American author (that would be easy to purchase books from if you are in the USA where Bob is - I think?). I'm sick of all this PC twinkle-toes can't say Americans are any good at anything anymore cr*p. I was feeling old and grouchy I guess. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
