True that there is less activity and less spam on FidoNet - that's one thing I
like about FidoNet.  But conceptually, FidoNet echos and Usenet seem basically
the same: They're both systems with categorized message areas where people can
post public messages for others to read and reply to.

That's true - and I've also seen some FidoNet echos on Usenet.

Unfortunately, that's true.  I've almost given up on most of Usenet and don't
use it nearly as much as I used to because of that.

That's cool.  :)  I have a feeling that most people didn't even know about the
internet then..
