MP>> It was taken down "to be put into storage" at least "until
MP>> something could be decided upon what to do with it." Even though
MP>> the African American community has lobbied very vocally for it's
MP>> destruction.
MP>> We both know what that means it will never see the light of day and
MP>> when thye find it, the valuable bronze will be gone and it will be
MP>> beyond salvage.
MP>> -> Thing is, when you forget your past, it really does repeat
MP>> itself. Being so
MP>> -> freaked out about Trump's election should make them realize
MP>> that.
MP>> Just like the Louisville falls fountain was forgotten... put in
MP>> storage and when a recent inquiry about it was made they found it
MP>> rusting in an outdoor storage yard beyond repair.
MP>Actually what I meant was that people who forget their history are
MP>doomed to repeat it. Like, people get all fired up about Confederate
MP>Place or the monument, and then wonder how someone like Trump (who
MP>they see as a racist) wins the election.
MP>Part of the problem in America today is that most school kids, if
MP>they are taught much history at all, are taught that the civil war
MP>was all about slavery and racism and nothing else.
Indeed. Nor do they understand the 13th and 15th amendments. Hopefully
they understand the 16th but I have my doubts.
