Real neat site refence Andromeda! The rocks are very nice,
but I was more interested in two other articles referenced
on that page, http://www.world-science.net/index.htm  dated
10/01/04,
namely, "Did we Evolve to Die?" and "Researchers Close in on
Aging." The first discuses the possibility of group
selection in premature death selecting for more fit mutants,
and the second, the possible role of compounds called
sirtuins in longevity, particularly that enhanced by
restricted caloric intake. They both provide hope for
potential immortality/immorbidity techniques via new
biochemistry. Immortality has been discussed here with
regard to the Fermi Paradox in that could affect the ETI
civilizations as to behavior and technological societal
lifetime, the most significant factor in the Drake Eq.
