I'm not sure what you mean.

But I contend that life is that which survives the heat cycle - the rest is
destroyed. 

Life is that which survives and survives in variant forms
some of which have the ability to utilize that sun energy to become more stable
than other sun survivors. Life then is that which moderates energy, stays
stable in the cycle, comes in variants, some of which can utilize the energy of
- the sun, and replicate it to continue that energy moderating chemical
system's existence.
But how?. 

The sun/uv (with a dry/wet cycle too) can produce some necessary monomers, the
uv/sun can aid in some polymerization.
The sun cycle could be such that the strand folds in water  into a stable shape
much like a tRNA, and unfolds (breaking the h-bonds of the folded strand) in
sun/heat/dry.
The folded strand may form a ribozyme. And perhaps that could act on an
unfolded strand and replicate it.
Or perhaps a primitive form of PCR polymerase chain reaction could form.

The sun causes dimers on pyrimidines - which gives a more stable advantage to
purines (I suggest a purine world with mostly hydrophilic aa's - best fitting
the watery environment. Then a second set of pyrimidines and hydrophobic aa's -
thus the genetic code)

This all is speculative for sure. But I suggest that
because what lasts in a heat cycle later forms liife - that we know how to test
and find out.

Set up a heat cycle (sun/uv/dry then cool/wet cycle) and see how that that
survives this leads to variants that leads to life.
I suggest it will do so  through these suggested stages
sun selection (what survives the heat cycle)
chemical selection (what can use chemical energy as a slow release form of
sun/uv/heat)
natural selection (RNA world etc..)
