In response to your message:
JP> K guys.. help me out.. We need to buy a complete home package, with the
JP> Dolby Pro Logic receiver, full speaker set, and perhaps
JP> a 5 disk changer or
JP> so.
JP> My questions are:
JP> 1. What is DSP, and what is the next step up from DSP?
DSP (Digital Signal Processor) lets you choose differrent sound settings for
example Arena, Jazz Club and Stadium. DSP logic gives you "sound like the
movie theater." I think the step up from DSP would be Dolby Surround AC-3
Digital. (That's a whole different story though.)
JP> 2. What brand name of an AMP should I choose? I need it both for theatre
JP> sound purposes AND to throw nice boom'in parties as well.. :)
Personally I like Kenwood Receivers they have lots of features and sound
settings. (They also have a LOUDNESS setting for your "Boomin'" parties.)
Some Kenwood Amps have all you're lookin' for DSP, Pro Logic or AC-3 and sub
outputs if needed.
JP> 3. Future shop sells Cervin Vega speakers or somethin, should i forget
S
JP> altogether and go look at stuff like pioneer, etc?
If don't scrap FS altogether, it really depends on your price range. CV
speakers are great for bass, but it depends on your idea of what excellent
sound is.
JP> 4. If i want low end bass, should i get a pair of 12"inch subs for the
amp
JP> or those 8"inch dual woofers in each speaker? I would need to get a
JP> subwoofer too.. damn.. :)
Actually, in pro logic home theater a sub is an option. If you have a decent
pair of speakers you won't need one.
JP> I need at least a 400watt amp, I'm just new to this stuff and i need
ome
JP> help... Although people have different opinions, i
Kenwood has a few Receivers that meet or exceed 400 watts. Look around
though I hope my suggestions will help. Later.
