SM>I'm not sure what 'security' bug was fixed in the current release, but
SM>if it was a Java problem I'm not concerned - I have Java
The one that was in all the papers and TV news a couple of weeks ago.
The one where the person that found it was not happy with Netscapes $1000
U.S. reward and tried to blackmail them for more. When Netscape refused they
sent it to CNN and Infoworld.
SM>disabled until someone figures out a way to prevent some WaY
SM>KeWeL 10 year old from destroying my system from afar (if folks
SM>don't know what Java is capable of - all of it - THEY SHOULD!)
Not only that but some of this Java stuff is just plain bad and not thought
out. I went to the Programmers Distribution Network Filegate Web site.
They have a Java applet that displays the time in about six countries and
cities based on the time in Atlanta Ga USA. It took my 40meg Laptop to its
Knees trying to update once a second. That is absolutely the last time I
visit their Web page. How dumb can you get, a Java high resolution real
time clock applet in a frame no less, with no sleep delays, apparently
programmed like a DOS app. Whats next a real time continous Ping meter.
This stuff is really getting out of control. Java is not bad but the
implimentation abuse is already a real problem. People seem to be writing
these things just to say that they have a Java applet; maybe just to flesh
out the resume. There is some good use of applets around. IBM's Devcon
people are doing some nice work at that site. Now if they would only test
for missing documents that are supposed to be there but link to bogus
sub-directories. :-)

SM>Closed as of yesterday, due to incessant whining. :(
Nice site in some ways but if whining destroyed things, anything from ZD or
Infoworld would have been gone long ago. The guy was either an idealist or
too thin skinned for the job that he undertook. The internet is no place
for wimps, there are too many jerks out on the net. I also thought it was
kind of arrogant usurping the nick name that Doug Azzaritto (Mr. HPFS) had
used much earlier in his on-line persona in the same newsgroups. It was
several weeks before I realized that it was not him. I will still miss
Warpcity as they provided a useful service that no one had undertaken even
it they were sometimes wrong.

I am at a loss here. We must be talking about entirely different things. As
far as I was concerned we were talking about the international version. You
are making me think that there was an international version that you were
using like the English only nsos2202.exe. I don't seem to even be on the
same wave length with what ever it is that you are looking for. It does seem
strange that they would keep the old English only version from december
around and not keep an old International version around. I was not aware
there ever one one.
The first time that I ever saw mention of an International version is the
one that we have all been talking about, which also replaced the English
only version (nsos2202.exe). I guess the correct term for the International
version is really nationalized version, since there are different file names
for each national language. The EXE still seems to be the same general size.
SM>My problem is that I can't find a copy of the complete release,
SM>including plugin support, anywhere I've looked.
I have installed the version that I and James have been talking about
on systems that never had Netscape on them and they are working fine
and seem complete; the same goes for the plugin pack. So at this point, it
is becoming obvious to me that I have never seen the version that you
are speak of.
Maybe some other kind sole will pop up with an answer. I am missing
something here that I have insufficient knowledge to get past; I even traced
the Web site links and the FTP site directories.
