Greetings Folks,
Within the last month I finally took the plunge and rejected the
herd mentality by switching to OS/2 Warp 3.0. Unfortunately I am having
a compatibility problem with LapLink version NU-2.01, it refuses to
communicate with my serial ports!
This particular version of LapLink was OEMed for the original NEC
UltraLite notebook computer in about 1988. I realize that by today's
standards this stuff is sort of historical but I use my UltraLite as
it fulfills my small requirements for a portable computer.
The UltraLite has this version of LapLink burned into ROM along
with MS-DOS 3.3 so I cannot really upgrade the software. I used the
installation disk which came with my UltraLite to install LapLink 2.01
onto my 486. Then I installed a homemade splitter on COMM-2 so that I
can connect both a modem and LapLink cable to the same port. Naturally
I can only use one device at a time. All of this works fine under MS-
DOS 6.22 but it just will not work under OS/2 Warp 3.0. Also, parallel
connections are not an option me. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Greg
