i was just loaned a copy of warp v4 to see if it would run on my hardware.
after a near flawless installation that recognised my stb powergraph 64v+
and the buslogic bt958c and most importantly the smc pci netetwork adapter.
hell it even regognised my chaepie no name (ok its a deltacom) 17 inch
screen, looks real good at 1020x1280 .. a bit better than my old nec 4d.

all the hardware installed in a flash even the netware client didnt fall
over with the pci smc nic, i was surprised and rlieved to say the least. i
only have to work out the connection details paswords etc are setup and how
the two systems (netware file server and os2 netware client) talk to each
other so that i can integrate the netware file server. peer o peer has not
worked for me, i think i failed to understand some of the things tha make
it all hang together.

anyway i looked at the demo software and found lotus word pro .. installed
it and what a nightmare ... its one of the busiest screen layouts i've ever
seen. the paradigm .. that too is a step in the more obscure than describe
and clearlook looks easy to come to terms with by comparision.

well what can i say, my needs are simple, but more complicated than ibm
works wordprocessor but to take on the new breed .. learning emacs or nroff
would be easy by comparison .. all this pointy clicky stuff only fills up
the screen with ever more points of interest making it much harder for for
the disabled (with physical type disabilities) to get even a lookin so to
speak. this is part of the reason why i would like nd prefer to install
word for windows on my os/2 liberated computer.

if i can keep the os/2 v4.00 long enough i will try to install winword in
an win-os/2 session .. i will let you all know.

and . thanks to the few who wrote and said at worst "i dont know but
jave you tried this", at best pointed me in a direction that may
provide some help in the future.

so my original stands, "how do you inatall winword and excell on a
machine that is running os/2 v3.00 (warp connect) and using the fat
filesystem. if someone has a hpfs solution all the better i like to use
hpfs, while the ms product install failure hasnt been the only reason for
not using hpfs it has been the most significant.

with thanks to all

regards ... jonathan
