Well, first, lets list the hardware, then there will be a base to work from.

Thats enough pertinent data I think, the rest is fluff and drives.

I have it set for the standard 640 x 480 16 color. Is that patch I saw for 
256 color the one I need to make the leap?

Only one way to find out, tell me how you set up for 256 color and I'll give 
it a whirl.
