subject: Behaviour of Symbols

 CG>          ===============================================
 CG>
 CG> AVOID THE USE OF MSWord'S INSERT-SYMBOL COMMAND
 CG>
 CG>          ===============================================
 CG>
 CG> PRESTO! Consistent symbols throughout all the documents.
 CG>
 CG> They look good -
 CG> BUT they are all the equivalent of the
 CG> ascii40 code. Lose the machinations behind the scenes, whether it
 CG> is character formatting or MSoft mumbo-jumbo, and you are left
 CG> with a scattering of ascii40 characters throughout your document,
 CG> with no easy way of determining whether you are looking at a
 CG> plus-or-minus or a less-than-or-equal-to or a greater-than-or-
 CG> equal-to.
You CAN find and change symbols...
Find the code ^40, when youre on it selecet "insert, symbol" in the dialog
you can see the current value and font of the symbol. Using a macro you can
get the values like:
Function SymbolValue
   Dim dlg As InvoegenSymbool
   GetCurValues dlg
   SymbolValue = Val(dlg.TekenNum)
End Function
Function FontValue$
   Dim dlg As InvoegenSymbool
   GetCurValues dlg
   FontValue$ = dlg.Lettertype
End Function
(use these with the symbol selected in the text.
