Tom, at 10:38 on Jun 15 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley...

Is your Dynalink a DSVD (voice) modem? If so, it should be flashable.

TP> I'll ring their tech support and try to find out for sure.

You might also ask them if they have the new code which fixes the problem
with BTLZ. It must be a pain running without data compression, although
you could always force MNP4 with S27=32, and run MNP5 over that with
&K1. If you need compression at all, it's better than nothing I
guess...

BG> What does your manual say about it?

TP> The manual doesn't mention anything.

That's strange. If flashable, I'd expect the manual to reflect that.

TP> Actually the manual seems to be for a very similar modem rather than a
TP> model I have - most of AT commands agree but S-registers are different.

From the current model, USR have done away with several reserved
S-registers (the price one pays for plug-and-play, presumably).

TP> Maybe your impression about two Dynalinks is true?

Dunno, I still haven't actually seen one in the flesh yet.

BG> Might be time for you to start reading the USR_Modems echo, which I
BG> import daily via David Drummond's JabberWOCky BBS (07-3868-1597)...

TP> I do call there about twice a week for two reasons: so I can read
TP> USR echo and my modem can practice 33.6k connects :-).

Which reminds me, are you still living up on Mt Glorious, as we were rather
curious as to why you have such incredibly good lines?

Regards, Bill
