Niki was hit by a Randy Johnson fastball for uttering:
NS> @MSGID: 1:344/17.0 33e0f3d8
NS> You really don't like the Sonic's huh?
I didn't say that I didn't like the Sonics (never equate my liking or
disliking a person to my liking or disliking of his team. For example, I like
Jordan and Pippen but hate the Bulls. I respect them but I hate them just
like I hate but respect the Celtics' organization) just a couple of their
players.
NS> But whatever. O.k, I thought that Shaq improved his free throws
NS> after Magic Johnson worked with him.
He shot .635 in his last 5 regular season games and .610 during the playoffs,
however, he exhibited much of the same tendencies (he really had only one
good game when he went 9 of 11). It's easy to look better or worse in such a
short stretch and at still be no better than before. O'Neal's had the same
kind of short stretches during his entire career so I put no stock in what he
did during that time.
NS> Who is the book biased to.
I meant that it was biased toward the BAA. The NBL, which was around a lot
longer than the NBA's predecessor, the BAA, is not given the same kind of
coverage OR homage despite the fact that there are only three BAA franchises
left (Boston, Golden State and New York) and there are 5 NBL franchises
(Atlanta, Detroit, LA Lakers, Philadelphia and Sacramento) -- heck, there are
4 ABA franchises, 1 more than the BAA franchises.
NS> if it were focused on like the old Celtics or something, but I can't
NS> stand all this stuff about the Bulls bein the best team in history.
Why does that bother you? Are you biased against them because they beat the
Sonics or what? Believe it or not, there were people who did have a problem
with the Lakers back when they won 69 games because of the recent expansions
at that time (a lot more than what happened recently with Toronto and
Vancouver). Don't believe half the tripe you've seen written about the
*great* players of that time that made those Lakers (or the Celtics) so much
greater than any modern player could ever be in the minds of those that
refuse to believe that basketball is as good now as it was in their youth.
NS> If you don't like Shaq then who do you like on the Lakers?
Again, the player ISN'T the team. I didn't want the team to sign him and I
thought the money best spent on their bench and going after a center that
could shoot free throws.
NS> We just don't agree on anything.
I don't think so..:-)
NS> I think that the Sonics made a big mistake signing Jim Mac.
I can agree with this. This is the most moronic move EVER made in the history
of the Sonics.
NS> Especially if he keeps playin the minutes that he did this season!
If they expected any more out of him they were stupid. He couldn't even come
close to unseating Muresan and that should have been the first clue for those
"geniuses" in the front office (I like Gheorge but face it, if Jim was worth
the money that Seattle paid him, Washington would have used him even more
than they did).
