Even if the stalk was mounted off center, you would still have quite a bit
of obstruction.

A tertiary sits completely in the secondary's shadow, and the stalk is
completely out of the light path.

If you did the same with a secondary, the entire length of the stalk is in
the light path. It would probably be better to just use a one leg spider,
or mount it in an optically flat window.
