 GR> I rung today 16.June between 23.30 and 23.45 four times

PE> 15 June actually, had me going for a while! :-)

Sorry, I wrote simply the date I saw on the screen. My CP is still
set to summer time.. autsch.

PE> Alt-L is what I meant, but it doesn't matter, I presume you just
PE> got a "NO CARRIER" your end.

correct

PE> Can you dial my BBS and leave a contact # so that we can do
PE> a few experiments. If you set your port rate to 2400 or 1200
PE> or 300 you should be able to get on. Or else send netmail

did so, didn't help.

PE> to 3:711/934. [checks] Oh, I see you have entered a phone
PE> number as part of a successful login, presumably when I was
PE> running a different modem. Let me know if you are happy to do

 PE> your proper number.

Ok, but I think we can't do much. The 2 modems talking to each other
and can't agree on what terms to communicate. The Avtek was build as
28.8 seem impossible and does spit the dummy when it "hears" a 28.8
singing "what about a 28.8 speed".

GR> I add below a message from Blaise sysop of the netcomm BBS.
-> BH> Ok but how are you connections to this BBS?

I translated that line as "we have M34F's on our lines..."
and did ask specifically if this is so. A direct answer was avoided.

PE> from the above. There is something seriously wrong with the
PE> Netcomm, and it appears to be line-dependant. It needs someone
PE> to take a look at it. If you let Blaise know from your end that
PE> you are still having the problem, even with the new beta ROMs in
PE> the Netcomm, I'll send him the logs from my system. Let him know
PE> that I am sending the logs to do with your calls.

Ok

PE> Don't ditch your modem yet - I'd like to see this problem resolved

me to, but I won't hold my breath.

Regards ... Gery
