scones
                ----------------------------

                once again
                an evening walk
                hoping for a cool breeze
                after 3 days
                still no scones
                at Starbucks.
                west of the mountains
                they have lots, i say,
                all kinds, from Washington
                to California.
                the clerk smiles,
                we haven't got any
                for a while, he says.
                it's like this is
                a deadspot, i say,
                you should visit
                a Starbucks over there.
                he continues to smile.
                this is the desert.
                they don't have to try.
