I'm afraid this isn't even close to true. "Hired guns" advertise in legal
journals/magazines and are quite ready to testify against other docs.

There is the National Practitioners Data Bank. Would this qualify? This
contains a wealth of information about each of us, specifically as regards
licensure actions, censures by local, regional or national boards,
malpractice claims, any other legal actions against him, etc.
I'm afraid the information given you was faulty - we have a sophisticated
"watchdog" mechanism over us and we have to live with close scrutiny in
every aspect of our lives (especially if one lives in a small town!)
