-= Pete Replied to Arthur Marsh about: high-end modems failing dial tone detection =-

G'day Arthur

PC> Guess so though with all the differing exchanges about who
PC> knows, I can only comment on my own experences with about 5
PC> different modems over the years rangeing from Bit Blitzer 2400
PC> up to USR Courier with a few Netcomms and Dataplex in between
PC> and they all detected dial tone just fine on both the old
PC> mechanical (i assume X-bar) exchange and the new AXE one we have
 PC> now.

AM> The only other modem I've used here that required dial tone
AM> detection to be disabled was a Netcomm E5.

Never played with a E5 so maybe i've just been lucky with tone
detection with the modems i've had.
