       Patrick, it seems to occur with 14.4 connections.  The connection goes 
well, but then it very quickly drops to 300. The only thing that keeps on 
popping on the modem display is a 3.

P.S. I did add all you S?? commands to my init string, yet it still didn't 
seem to work.
