Subject: Re: MR. MAGOO CONCERNS
Your coment about NFB not having the power any more to help with jobs or
technology is laughable and petty. We registered just under 3350 people at
our most recent convention and are undoubtedly the strongest force in the
blindness field.
You can get involved, if you disagree instead of taking pot shots from the
sidelines.
While it is a difficult situation, the portrayal of visually impaired
persons by Mr. Magoo isn't something that does any of us any good. He is
bumbling and incompatent, and his only solution is to see again.
What is to be done, or how effective it is are complex matters. However,
would you have us do nothing, and us is all of us as blind people, this
effects you too.
Part of the problem with jobs is people's attitudes about blindness. My
boss wouldn't hire a Mr. Magoo, and that is the only visually impaired
person many people know.
