I've just purchased an INMODEM 3400. The darned thing seems to have a
hassle with dropping carrier after between 10 and 16 minutes after TIMEOUT
errors. It also seems to not like my Soundblaster 16 card (I had to remove
the SB card, install the modem and then reinstall the SB. I still have a
DMA conflict that I can't seem to fix).

Anyway, back to the first hassle. I suspect the modem might not like my
Telecom T200 touchphones, although my Maestro 144FME (which I still have)
performs perfectly on the system. I've disconnected the T200's and I'm
downloading stuff as I speak - 43 minutes so far at 3200 cps plus without
error!) but this is not an easy option since the phones are also used as
business phones. Does anyone have a solution that does not involve
disconnecting the phones (if indeed this is the problem)? I'd like to
put a second line in which would solve the hassles but Optus aren't
starting that service (Optical Fibre all the way!!!) until June (bugger
Telstra! )
