26 years huh? Wow! How does it feel to be a miracle? I rather like
being one myself. About my sponsor, we talked and mutually decided to
go back to be friends, not sponsor/sponsee anymore and it seems to be
better.
As for meetings where there aren't as many "newbies", I don't have much
choice. Where I live, at least in AA, people are REALLY horrible about
giving rides with a very FEW exceptions. So I go to daytime meetings
downtown by bus. I am legally (not totally) blind and I can't drive,
so this is what I have available. It is not the group I'd go to if I
have my 'druthers, as they say. But of the daytime groups, it is the
best - there are some people who are not brand new there. The other
daytime groups are pretty much all newcomers and once in a while I go
to one of these for a change of pace. I also supplement my recovery
with the nets. I do what I can and it seems to work.
I am very grateful there are so many daytime meetings available to me.
