I had much the same thing years ago when I was travelling for Hydro... I
crossed the border at Ft. Francis/International Falls into Minnesota and
when I tried to come back (I'd only gone across for a good dinner!) the
customs "official" (Cdn) gave me a REALLY hard time about some computer
equipment I had in the trunk; even though it had its' manufacturer
stamp/logo/imprint all over it, italready had ONTARIO Hydro approval AND
CSA approval stickers on it!... he had no idea where Guelph
(manufacturer) was!

From what I've learned, I think I would certainly look in this
direction, too.
