Hi Lewis!
Funny to see you here (not really)! At least this echo is flowing to
here, but what happened to all of the good conversation? All I've seen
so far is a message about where did everyone go, and your response.
OH well.. Just to get on topic a little, I did the "out" on Neil Diamond
last week here in Sacramento. Talk about a humoungous setup! Not only in
sound, but lights, varilites, lasers and other stuff... Set up in the
round in Arco arena (one of the smaller stops on the tour) they had all
of the amps and dimmers set up in a large backstage area dubbed "dimmer
beach".
Sound wise, they had an array pointed at each corner of the room, and
subs spaced all around the stage. I didn't get a chance to look at the
house and monitor positions, but saw enough Crown amps to start a war
with... which were located in the dimmer beach area with about 300 feet
of cable to the arrays... why they didn't run line level to the amps and
put them closer to the stage or even fly them with the arrays was my
biggest question about the design as I saw it.
Oh well.... I'll get outa here for now, working on an editing project
in the workstation combining Ricky Skaggs and Harry Chapin's versions of
Harry's "Cat's in a Cradle" that is coming out very well, and may be
added to an album of previously unreleased material of Chapin's
material. The two versions are fairly close to each other, but enough
different to make it fun.
