subject: Starting out

I have seriously been considering starting a small herb garden, but I don't
really know just where to start. I think my best bet would be to start with
a few containers just until I get the hang of what I'm doing. My question is
this, what would be the best way to start out? Seeds or plants? Which herbs
would be the easiest or the best ones to start out with, seeing as how I'm
ot
real sure about growing herbs and such? If it was a vegetable garden, I
ould
have no problem, as I used to help my mom a lot when I was younger and we
lived on a small farm in West Virginia. As far as herbs go, I really don't
know anything about growing them. What sort of containers would be the best
to use, or does it matter? What about the soil? Should I go with regular
potting soil that you can get in the store, or what? I'd really appreciate
any help or advice that anyone can offer. Thanks in advance.
