that happened because his reader software is stupid and he addressed the
message to three different people in echomail instead of To: all in the
echo and crossposted to netmail to the three individuals...

maybe because it has its roots in germany and, in many ways, there are a
lot of things being done in the last decades that are very similar to
things that happened in germany?

  ie: gun registration - once registered, the gov't was
      able to then go confiscate the guns. after that,
      no one had any way of protecting themselves from
      the gov't. look what happened after that.
