I do not know how it compares to other flocked paper. However, you will probably find black velvet cloth even blacker than flocking paper...at least at not-very-oblique angles. You may need to test to see what is best if you need to flock at very oblique angles. My baffle setup does not use/depend on very oblique angles in most locations...and that's good.
