Now that you mention it........
My boy and I went to a primitive range (benches, roof, backstop) one
time, got out with our rifles and pistols (.270's, 9mm, .45, .357, .44)
and proceeded to prepare for shooting at the bench. Before we got
unpacked, the 2 old-enough-to-know-better guys there started firing at
silhouettes at the 25 yard backstop..."machine-gunning" their 9mm's
until all 15 from both 9's were expended...with no concern if they were
really hitting the target (let alone *where*), and couldn't care less if
we had ear protection on, or not! Apparently, they got their firearms
training from TV...Rambo...Invasion USA...etc. We left...watching over
my shoulder all the way...my trusty .45 in Condition 1 and *real* handy,
and my boy with his 9mm in the same condition. (A recent time prior to
this yielded a corpse with a hole in it at this same range.) I'm glad
it didn't come to that, but they would have had their hands full if they
did get spunky. Anyhow, as we were loading up the truck, they were
going through another volley.
We haven't gone there since. We go an extra 5 miles in another
direction to another one where the shooters have some sense and
courtesy.
