The article is accurate.

The problem some had was because it is selective.

Personally I think all history is selective as only a subset is ever
recorded & thus which subset is recorded dictates what we think
happened vs what actually happened.

For instance there is the common people vs top people debate i.e. what
matters... large scale changes in the life, attitudes etc of the
"common man" or "King X decided Y in Year xxxx"

So for instance did the US really fall because the "soviet
people" were simply sick & tired of communism or because of Gorby
& Ronnie & Maggie etc?
