How was she being deceitful and dishonest?
He asked her out, she said "Coffee or a drink" and he agreed to that.
Nothing in his post shows her being deceitful or dishonet. They went
out and she wasn't interested. All she did was not offer to pay half
the bill. Which doesn't surprise me at all. Most men I know say that
if they ask the woman out, especially a first date, they expect to pay.
If he didn't expect to or want to pay he should have said something to
her about her share. It's his fault for not asking just as much as
it's her fault for not offering.
Besides that, if he was so concerned about money he should have
suggested a coffee shop instead of letting her pick the place. If she
then insisted the expensive restaurant he should have simply said,
"your share is $10" when the bill came.
