The answer is that it depends, but isn't likely to be too painless. If
it's a console application, then it's pretty simple. If you're looking to
convert an X app, things can get really sticky. For some of the system
calls, code exists to ease the transition - some is in SNIPPETS (see URL
below).
Perhaps a better question is why do you specifically want to use MSVC?
I've found the Mingw32 port of gcc/g++ to be quite robust in recompiling
*nix apps to native Win32 environments. Using a native W32 compiler in
preference to MSVC will cost exactly the same as your plan since the tool
sets are free.
