Somehow, in all the coverage of this, I have only now learned that the
cop assigned to guard this man was a woman.

At the very least, a cop is expected to maintain control of his or her
gun.  If a cop can't do that, then the cure is worse than the disease.
And since police work often gets physical, is it too much to ask that a
cop be .... strong?

This may be one of the few cases in which a feminist really is the
victim.  They spent years spouting into her face that she could do
whatever men could do, and she believed it.  Then she decided to become
a cop, and they let her.  She acted like she was as capable as any
other officer, and they treated her as such.  They gave her a difficult
job that most cops could have done, and she was killed.  I guess
feminism really did her a big favor, eh?

She reminds me of the female F-14 pilot who was passed even though she
didn't meet the standards applied to male pilots.  She crashed on a
carrier and died.  I guess the sisterhood really helped her too.

If it had been a male cop in that courthouse, he might have been able
to go unarmed, and just overpower the man he was guarding.  But it was
a woman, so they had to give her a gun, and thus a gun wound up where
it shouldn't have been.
