Analog modems won't work right over digital lines...at least in my experience.

However, if you DO have a true POTS line, yeah, set it up!  It's always
another option and as you know from elsewhere, there are still POTS users
around.  I've joked with someone from Micronet who pulls mail via POTS that
I know it's 4 AM when I hear the phone ring at night.
