Hey Russell!

For sure! The MSGID isn't needed for one's own stuff or at least not
anything I need. I tend to be fussy about archives here and don't save
much in the way of messages, nevermind Fido. As far as programs go I tend
to lean towards archiving the configurations and the such and just use the
basic GNU/Linux stuff. Even those I tend to play with so there is very
little that requires backing up, and that I tend to be religious about ...
most of the time. In fact I just finished backing up the entire /etc on
one machine a few minutes ago. A bit of overkill but that made it easier
and it isn't all that big.

The MSGID was still there but effectively disabled and a new one applied.
Same with the rest, although it was "hidden". All that was
accomplished was to effectively add bloat wrt true Fido systems, the idea
being that the news server would use the new tags to spread the word. That
way when it returned to Fido systems the old tags SHOULD have kicked back
in. However we all got what was destined for the news server and all the
checks and balances were disabled.

Fairly easy to figure out what went wrong there.

Life is good,
Maurice
