| subject: | MS Mail w/OS/2 |
> I assume that the earlier version of Exchange is MS Mail and may > have most of the functionality of the current Win 95 Exchange > client. > Will MS Mail run with Warp Connect ? The 16-bit Win 3.1 version does, yes - and fairly well too, if you have 16-bit or better of RAM (the same can be said of any largish 16-bit Win 3.x package). A few of years ago I had it running on an OS/2 2.1 system used for development in an otherwise all "Win 3.x" office and performance-wize it put the Windows systems to shame. :-) It did have problems in dealing with a very large number of entries in the global addresslist database in that it used to trap, but the same problem was exhibited by Windows systems too. The difference was that Windows would lock up, but OS/2 would just close down the Win-Os2 session. Neither result was particularly convenient when you were simply looking for a name to send mail to. :) This was in one of the Melbourne Telecom administrative offices, so their address lists were pretty big - over 8,000 entries in total, but they had to get it down below 2,000 before it would work more or less reliably. Consequently, only managers and above got listed in there, and everyone else's mail address was put into the internal directory instead. --- MaltEd/2 1.0.b6* Origin: Unique Computing Pty Limited (3:632/348) SEEN-BY: 50/99 620/243 621/505 623/630 625/160 632/103 107 348 360 633/371 SEEN-BY: 634/396 635/301 502 503 506 544 728 639/252 711/409 410 430 808 809 SEEN-BY: 711/934 955 712/515 713/317 714/906 800/1 @PATH: 632/348 635/503 50/99 711/808 934 |
