subject: CRT unit in Pascal

Can anyone help me with a patch or replacement for the CRT unit
in Turbo Pascal version 7.
My computer is a Pentium II running at 350 MHz.
The following program is impossible:

program t;
uses CRT;
begin
writeln 'hello';
end.

Running any program containing 'uses CRT' in the step-by-step
mode shows 'divide by zero' at the very first statement
following 'begin'.
This is because the timer in the CRT unit has to be initialised,
but running a testloop N times is done at a 'zero' time interval.

Greetings, Wim.

.. New computer? But I like my vacuum tubes... They keep me warm.
