1237c94149dc c_echo Hello Bob - >> At some point during the time that FidoNet usage in the US >> began to take a huge dive, Bob took steps to insure that the >> C Echo would have a means to survive. BS> Although I appreciate your faith in me, this simply isn't BS> true and is likely to plant yet another burr under Charles' BS> saddle. I already knew it wasn't true and decided to let it slide but is it really necessary to include me in messages that you post here? BS> I had ended my last term as moderator by a couple of years BS> when Fido started taking the big hits. I kept my local BS> point address until sometime in the early 90's. By that BS> time, I was working ridiculously long hours and really had BS> no time to participate any more, so I disconnected from BS> FidoNet. BS> A few years passed and I found connections on the Internet, BS> most recently this one at Yahoo groups. However, the people BS> to thank for these efforts to keep the C_Echo alive are BS> elsewhere (thanks Tom!) >> I don't know everything that he did, but one thing was to >> make it available as a mailing list. I haven't bothered to >> take the time to understand exactly how Yahoo Groups works. >> I just know that it is the easiest way to receive the C >> Echo... not necessarily the best way. Of course, which is >> best and which is easiest is entirely subjective. BS> This has been recently discussed... Now that my long BS> employment dry spell is over, I have a fortuitous mix of BS> finances, enthusiasm, and time to devote to everything BS> SNIPPETS (which includes the C site, the audio site, and BS> others), and have begun. BS> The first concrete result of interest here will be a BS> C_Echo-style mailing list. As soon as that's officially BS> published, Tom and I have agreed in principle to explore BS> ways to gate the Fido C_Echo to the new mailing list with BS> hopefully more reliability that has been evinced by Yahoo. BS> Charles will also be glad to know that I plan to set it up BS> so that while I will have to be the List admin (i.e. I have BS> the root password for the server), the list moderator can, BS> and hopefully will, be someone else. Fascinating. This is not a 'blog' or a 'wikiwiki', this is the c_echo. Charles has already posted his opion of elisting FIDO echos and PLEASE note that it was prior to reading this message from you. My opinion of the damage to BBS'g in general is not based on personalities and I didn't even need to include your name in my previous message. (hint) At this point in time I can honestly say that your initial posts prior to my suggestion to seek out another source (different book) were vaguely on-topic. The remainder of your posts seemed to reflect a fascination with me and how I percieve you. From that point onward the elisted people seem to think this is a chat echo for any thought that crosses their minds. I suggest that you setup a BLOG for yourself and the others to reminisce about fading glories and FIDO versus Yahoo where discussion of C programming won't be a distraction for any of you? Please note the lack of names and lack of insulting adjectives directed at any individual. It is possible if you put some effort into it. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
