Exactly, yeah. :)  A lot of folks tend to cite that one without
remembering that the whole fershlugginer shootin' match was one
big wild card. :)

It was in "Where Silence Has Lease" (addressed as "lieutenant" by
Riker), which I *think* may have been Season 2 -- someone with a
photomuhgraphic memory will have to help out on that one.

:) RETroactive CONtinuity, a process by which formerly established
stuff is redefined in later episode.  Sort of a "Dunno what you're
talking about -- *we* never said that" approach. ;)

It'd be nice, I do agree.  But with differing writers, not all of
whom actually play off the "same sheet of music," as it were, it's
not as constant as any of us'd like it, I'm afraid. :(  It could
be a whole lot worse, though. :)
