Hi All , hope you are having a nice day Here's an item from the LockerGnome Bits & Bytes newsletter I got this evening. Tractor beam anyone? ];> -=> Yours sincerely, Paul Williams <=- ---------- http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/01/18/2014230 ElectroMagnetic Ship Docking Station Blogged by Oliver {at} 11:13AM http://www.lockergnome.com/update/archives/week_2003_01_19.html Linkback http://www.lockergnome.com/update/mt-comments.cgi?entry_id=3795 Comments This is just cool. Instead of having a large number of people laboring w/ ropes to secure the ship, powerful electro-magnets would secure the ship to the dock. Previous attempts had been discarded because the magnetic fields could not be sufficiently directed and would adversely effect any electronic cargo. However new advances in our ability to control the strength and shape of the magnetic field have now made the technology possible.
